Jeanne Marlier
Postdoctoral Researcher in Political Science
Université Libre de Bruxelles
I am a postdoctoral researcher at CEVIPOL at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, working within the inter-university project NotLikeUs. I completed my PhD in political science in 2025 at the University of Vienna under the supervision of Laurenz Ennser-Jedenastik and Markus Wagner. Previously, I studied at the Université de Montréal (BSc, MSc).
In my dissertation, I examined how citizens in European party democracies respond to independent politicians at the time of elections, when they enter political office, and in response to their actions while in office.
My research focuses broadly on political behavior, with a particular interest in how citizens and elites navigate questions of representation, technocracy, accountability, and democratic legitimacy. Methodologically, my work draws on surveys of both elites and citizens, survey experiments and political career data. Outside of work, I crochet, enjoy any kind of fiber arts and go to the movies whenever I can.
My work has been published in the European Journal of Political Research.
